I do not know whether Autosave fired during the idle period yesterday.
BRICSCAD TURN OFF AUTOSAVE FULL
Autosave is set for full save and for a 10 minute interval. Bricscad Support has not been able to duplicate this but it happens on both workstations here.Īutomatic save is turned on, but based on the files I see I do not believe that Bricscad is automatically saving unless Bricscad has focus. I have not been able to find a sequence of operations to duplicate this on demand but I see this almost every day. When this occurs the top of the command history window will be about mid screen (about 34 lines shown in history rather than the three lines I have Bricscad set for). I also have a problem that on some occasions the size of the command history window is not correct when a new instance of Bricscad is created and there are existing Bricscad instances. Having lisp routines disappear may or may not be tied to SDI. There do seem to be several problems in the SDI implementation. It is true that SDI is not fully implemented in Bricscad but it is easy to work around most of the differences with some lisp code. It may not be valuable for your purposes but it is important enough for me that I would stop using Bricscad if SDI was eliminated completely. The files will open as multiple documents in one instance of Bricscad.Īs I said, having one document per instance of Bricscad is very important for my work process. Double click on several DWG files to open them. The files will open in separate instances of Bricscad. If I have a vote would prefer to have the Bricscad SDI command fully match the function of SDI in legacy Autocad, but in any case SDI should not be eliminated. I have written a revised OPEN command that assures that the existing drawing in an existing instance of Bricscad is closed before a new drawing is opened in that Bricscad instance to get Bricscad SDI closer to Autocad SDI. For what I do running several instances of Bricscad, each with only one drawing opened, is far better than having one instance of Bricscad with multiple drawings opened in that instance. SDI does not appear to be quite the same in Bricscad as in Autocad, but it is valuable for some of us. At the command line SDI can be changed to ON or OFF, and changing the setting does change the program's operation. In SETTINGS there is a note that SDI is read only and SDI cannot be changed. If you want individual files to still be AutoSaved you can open those files and manually turn AutoSave back on for those files.I cannot verify whether the setting of SDI has any effect on dropping lisp routines or not, but it does seem that there is a problem with the documentation for SDI.If you want AutoSave off by default for all your Office applications, such as PowerPoint and Excel too, you’ll need to repeat these steps for each of those programs.Restart Word (or whichever application you’re in) and the change will take effect. If you want to turn AutoSave off, by default, for all files, go to File > Options > Save and uncheck the box next to AutoSave OneDrive and SharePoint Online files by default on. If you switch it back On for an individual file, it will remember to keep in on for that file. You turn AutoSave Off for an individual file the program will remember to keep it off every time you reopen that file. To turn off AutoSave, toggle the AutoSave switch on the top left of the app header. After that even though AutoSave is regularly saving your changes to the file, new versions are only added to the version history periodically (about every 10 minutes) for the remainder of your editing session. When you open a file and make your first changes, AutoSave saves those changes and a new version of the file is added to the version history. For more information on version history, see View historical versions of Office files. To roll back to this version, click the Restore button. A second window will open showing that version of the file.

Review the dates and times to find the version that you want to restore, and then click Open version. You can restore a previous version of the file using Version History.Īt the top of the window, click the filename, and then click Version History. If AutoSave did overwrite the file with your changes, see the section below. That way AutoSave won’t overwrite the original file with the changes. Important: Do you use File > Save As after making changes to an original document or template? If so, we recommend using File > Save a Copy before making your changes.

AutoSave is enabled by default in Microsoft 365 when a file is stored on your OneDrive. AutoSave is a feature available in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for Microsoft 365 that saves your file automatically, every few seconds, as you work.
